A Professional’s creed

I will be honest to my managers, clients and my team members regarding status of projects, requirements and so on.

I will never give estimates to my client or managers that
I cannot honestly support.

I will not estimate or make commitments for other professionals without full and prior consultation with them.

I will not agree to impossible requirements without fully explaining the risks and other issues involved and documenting them for the clients or manager. I respect my client’s rights to change requirements, deadlines, etc. My client respects my right to renegotiate costs, schedules, resources and quality upon their changing of requirements.

I will never say “No problems” or “No worries” or similar “Don’t you worry about that” type statements again.

I have the professional right to say “No” with full explanations without recriminations.

I have the professional right to say “Yes” with full explanations of costs, impact and so on.

I will record my work and task effort honestly.

I will endeavour to treat my clients as professionals
even if they don’t treat me the same way. Supplied by Rob Thomsett
